Buzzing that I've just landed my first Netflix docco credit!! Check out Full Swing... it's basically the golf version of that F1 show.
I got quite lucky with this as one of the pro golfers is from Sheffield and they needed an interview with his dad. Production wanted a local DoP and I was top of their search. It was a great experience learning to shoot towards Netflix's technical specs and how a wider production with many hats works.
I initially got booked for a full day's shoot with a small crew who I got to nominate. Unfortunately this got cancelled at the last minute which was a bit gutting. However I stayed in touch with the producer and emphasised I'd be willing to help out if anything became available again.
They'd mentioned they still had to capture the golfer's dad for a brief interview so I offered to be flexible if this could be arranged and even offered a to cover it over a weekend and recommended a local cafe.
They liked this idea and in the end of got my gig, even though it was only a shorter day with less moving parts.

Whilst this was a pretty straight forward job doing documentary work that I'm very much used to, I still had to liaise with a myriad of executives and producers, even down the how the shot was framed. So people were wired in through a laptop and had a feed from the camera. The director came up from London who was familiar with the process which took the pressure off of me.
Truth be told, I wouldn't have lit or framed it how they insisted on and believed my style fitted more creative endeavors. But I needed to remember what the client needed and was happy with. It's about adapting to the requirements and falling into rank when needed.
Whilst this was only a smaller pick up shoot I still feel happy enough to claim my first Netflix credit. Why not? Hopefully something longer form will come but for now I wait :)
I guess the message I wanted to share with this is the continuously update your website and visibility because you never know who'll come knocking.
